As A Man Thinketh – One Of the Best Books For Self Discovery
James Allen (28 November 1864 – 24 January 1912) is considered the father of modern inspirational thought. He was a British philosophical writer and self-help motivator. One of his books, ‘As A Man Thinketh,’ revolutionized modern philosophical books.
The book “As A Man Thinketh” was published in 1903. Since its publication, it has been massively produced and become one of the best sellers. It was a story of almost 120 years, but his book and thoughts, ideas, and philosophies remain in the heart of people worldwide.
Motivational speakers worldwide have appreciated this book “As A Man Thinketh” as one of the best books they have ever read. I read a book recommendation article by a famous motivational speaker of India and found this book last year; I ordered it and read it.
In a word, it was eye-opening. And I’ve decided to give a review of this book to all of you so you can also get it to read. Here in this article, I’ll summarize the book and tell you what is inside it and how it can benefit you in your daily life.
As a Man Thinketh By James Allen
This book is about how a human being thinks and how his thinking affects his life. This book carries some great knowledge about the power of thought and how people fall in life to grow for their thinking. This book will give you a huge idea about the effects of thinking in our life.
Things that you never read and that will make sense. You can also relate to James Allen’s philosophies in the book. There are seven chapters in the book. Those chapters are:
- Thoughts and Character
- Effect of Thought on Circumstances
- Effect of Thought on Health and the Body
- Thought and Purpose
- The Thought Factor in Achievement
- Vision and Ideals
Those chapters are already sound amazing. This book carries all the explanations of these chapters. How thoughts affect our work, how thoughts impact the character we grow, and how thought takes us to the situation we are in right now are explained well. Whatever you do every day and in your daily life, your thought has a huge role.
Even those you do unpremeditatedly have done by your thoughts that you were not aware, or subconsciously did it. Some lines from the book will clear your confusion,
“As the plant springs from, and could not be without the seed, so every act of a man springs from the hidden seeds of thought and could not have appeared without them. These apply equally to those acts call spontaneous and unpremeditated as to those which are deliberately executed.”
Everything a human being does is generated from his thoughts. Even if you are not aware of your thought, you automatically jump into action. If you can not think, you can not take any action.
I was thinking of writing this line of this book review, and I’m doing it. It does not matter, even it was subconsciously. There are so many things that you have to read to know. I’m not so great at explaining, apologizing for that.
