2nd Chance by James Patterson is the second novel in the Women’s Murder Club series, written in collaboration with Andrew Gross. Homicide Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer, still recovering from the loss of her partner, returns to the force. She investigates a series of murders involving an 11-year-old girl and an elderly woman. The trail leads to a jail-hate gang called Chimera. As the investigation unfolds, another police officer is killed, and Lindsay’s boss is murdered.

The ex-cop Frank Coombs becomes a suspect. Meanwhile, the Women’s Murder Club faces personal challenges: Jill is pregnant, Claire becomes a target, and Cindy starts dating the murdered girl’s pastor.
